Career
During the studies, students of American School of Government acquire knowledge in the field of political science, diplomacy, contemporary political theory and comparative political systems as well as international comparative law. An important part of this study program is presenting the work with public administration, with the work of state and local governments in the U.S., The EU and Bosnia and Herzegovina, then with diplomatic relations, with the international and domestic political economy, and with the important issues of foreign policy of Bosnia and Herzegovina. After graduation, students of the Department of International Law, International political science and International relationes and diplomacy, can search for jobs in government or other governmental agencies, ministries, political parties as an advisory analysts, organizers, and in various non-governmental organizations and corporations. Public Administration enables a wide range of administrative positions in government and agencies, and it is available to graduated students of public administration, with great possibilities of building career, primarily in the public sector. International Security provides students with the knowledge that helps them obtain proper insight into the issues of international peace and security which are very important in the legal, political and administrative practice. The program prepares students for careers in the broad field of international security, with wide opportunities of employment such as: legal adviser, a political analyst (especially in the Ministries of Foreign Affairs), a legal adviser at international courts, the legal and political advisor for international and nongovernmental organizations such as the Red Cross And Amnesty International, then as a consultant in the field of international security and so on.
International Law
American School of Government also offers a study of law, which focuses on international and comparative law. During legal studies, students gain knowledge and skills that are relevant to the application of international and European law, not just in international organizations and institutions that cooperate with the European Union and national authorities, but also in corporations and financial institutions whose activities, future and present, requires knowledge of international law and European legal standards. The presence of international organizations, foreign corporations, as well as the process of EU accession, and the work of domestic companies abroad, fully justifies the establishment of this study. Throughout the study, special attention is given to the comparative aspects of law, Anglo American and Euro-continental legal tradition, which represent the two most important world's legal traditions.
Graduated of this study get a degree "lawyer" that enables them to deposit the administrative and judicial examination in Bosnia and Herzegovina, to work in administrative and judicial bodies, and international and European public institutions, or international companies operating in the country and abroad. International relations and diplomacy
During the study, graduated of International relations and diplomacy will adopt the necessary knowledge for an essential understanding of international relations, multilateralism, regional integration and diplomatic institutions, practices and systems, and improve analytical and negotiating skills necessary for successful functioning in an international environment. Graduated of International security, which was developed in response to global and regional security challenges, will focus on constantly changing security risks, challenges and threats that destabilize the whole world.
During this study, particular attention will be devoted to such security risks that are increasingly out of state and public frame and moved to the private boxes, endangering all the fields of human activity which in the traditional understanding of the concept of security had not been well treated by the public security organ. In addition, graduated are able to continue their education at master's level at the American School of Government or other institutions in the region or abroad.
After education and practical experience at the American School of Government, graduated of International relations and diplomacy will be fully prepared to join the various national ministries of foreign affairs, security, European integrationetc., or to become employees of international public institutions or private companies whose business requires knowledge of international relations, foreign languages and more successful intercultural communication necessary for daily business. Graduated of International political science and Public administration program, will primarily be directed towards the study of management companies that are in the state of multi-dimensional transition and comprehensive reforms that include the modernization of public institutions / public administration, its competence, logistical capacity and human resources ( program of public administration), and study the theoretical aspects of political science, or the concrete social and economic relations and power relations between individuals, groups and countries, as well as the internal functioning of government (political science program). The classic study of journalism is not sufficient preparation for future leaders in the world of reporting in mass media.
