ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS
The Fifth Annual Meeting of Clinton Global Initiative closed. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees Denis Prcić invited President Clinton to visit American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina
25.09.2009.
Leaders of the American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AUBiH) attended the Fifth Annual Meeting of Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), held in the Sheraton Hotel in New York City, from September 22 to September 25, 2009. Numerous current and former heads of state, together with the world's most successful businessmen, representatives of non-government and charity organizations, as well as people from ˝show business˝ participated in this prestigeous summit.
During the summit, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at AUBiH Denis Prcić, met with former U.S. President Bill Clinton and extended to him an official invitation to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina and AUBiH.
"Education is top priority for both CGI and AUBiH. Specific projects which have been implemented in the educational process at the AUBiH are beneficial not only for our country, but for the entire region as well. Education is the key to success of every developed country, and the American system of education, that we apply at the AUBiH, is valuable not only for the United States, but also for all the countries implementing the same principles of work and productivity that derive from such a system of education", said AUBiH Board President Denis Prcić.
As this year's CGI meeting also focused on education, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at AUBiH Denis Prcić met with many officials and discussed the development of AUBiH and the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Billionaire Eli Broad, a former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, astronaut and U.S. senator John Glenn, the mayor of New Orleans Ray Nagin, a former Chief of staff in the White House John Podesta, President Clinton's daughter Chelsea Clinton, CNN founder Ted Turner, general Wesley Clark, politician and human rights advocate Jesse Jackson and a U.S. foreign policy expert Samuel Berger, were only some of the officials with whom the Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the AUBiH had the opportunity to meet.
The Forum under the motto "Actions speaks louder than words" was also honored by the current U.S. President, Barack Obama, who, by opening the Summit, expressed his support for the initiative of his Democratic predecessor. Talking about the inspiration behind the work of CGI , President Clinton said that the members of CGI, ˝discussing about specific problems try to find ways to turn their good intentions into real changes."
As previously announced, the focus of this year's CGI meeting was on four areas: Harnessing Innovation for Development, Strengthening Infrastructure, Developing Human Capital and Financing an Equitable Future. The closing speech of the summit was given by the Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. Over 200 leading international media companies, such as ABC, FOX, NBC, Forbes, Reuters, etc. reported the AUBiH leaders attendance at this year's CGI meeting.
