US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton: "We are very proud of the American University"

Today, October 12, 2010 United States Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton, conducted her first official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina since she took the office. In addition to meetings with members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, opening of the new US embassy in Sarajevo, Secretary Clinton also met, in a Town Hall style meeting, with student representatives in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The meeting with students took place in the National Theater where representatives of major universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, together wither their rectors and deans, were present. American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AUBiH) was represented by 60 students from its campus in Tuzla and campus additions in Banja Luka, and Sarajevo. President of AUBiH, Denis Prcic, together with Director of the National Theater Gradimir Gojer, greeted Mrs. Clinton at the entrance of the National Theater.
Students asked many great questions showing their interest in current affairs while Secretary Clinton enjoyed answering those. The main message that Secretary Clinton passed was that the United States supports only unified Bosnia and Herzegovina and will be against any secession initiatives. She also urged young people of Bosnia and Herzegovina to get involved in political system of the country. Secretary Clinton acknowledged and prized American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina after a question from Srdjan Kosic, AUBiH student who talked about his experience at AUBiH, "I am Srdjan Kosic from the American University in Bosnia-Herzegovina. And in my university I go to classes with Serbian students, Croatian students, and Bosnian students, and I see all of them as my close friends and I fully agree with you that this country should be united. I see this flag over there that stands proudly next to the United States flag and I fully support this flag, and I love my country" Mrs. Clinton made a following comment to student’s statement: "Thank you very much, and thanks for what you said about your educational experience at the American University. We’re very proud of the American University here in Sarajevo."
This was a unique opportunity for students to meet and interact with Secretary of State of the United States of America. AUBiH expresses its gratitude to Secretary Clinton and her team, as well as the US embassy in Sarajevo, for organizing this event which allowed student representatives in Bosnia and Herzegovina this great opportunity.
